The Foreign Ministry hosted a banquet for Lithuanian Agricultural Vice Minister Vytenis Tomkus and his delegation on Thursday, marking the arrival of another vice ministerial-level delegation from the Baltic country.
In his speech, Vice Foreign Minister Roy Chun Lee (李淳) says that Taiwan has been opening up more agricultural imports from Lithuania, such as seafood, dairy, and beef. He adds that he hopes to see more cooperation in other industries such as machinery, technology, and software.
In Tomkus’s remarks, he thanked the Foreign Ministry for their warm reception. He says the 2023 Taiwan & Lithuanian Food Industry Exchange Meeting on Thursday yielded constructive progress.
Tomkus’s arrival is the most recent in a string of visits by high-level officials from Lithuania. These have included National Security and Defence Committee Chair Laurynas Kasčiūnas, and Vice-Minister of the Economy and Innovation Karolis Žemaitis.
The Foreign Ministry highlights that the regular visits by Lithuanian officials serve as a clear indication of the strong and close ties between the two countries.
