A Korean couple Miso and Kao Ting-ting (高丁丁) who are both top cycling champions in their country recently published a video sharing their heartwarming experience during a challenging ride near Taiwan's Mount Hehuan three years ago.
In the video, the couple describes how being drenched in heavy rain left them on the verge of hypothermia, and how they were forced to take shelter in a local police station. What they didn't expect was the unbelievable kindness of the Taiwanese police officers and their willingness to help, which left one of them close to tears.
They recall how the officers continuously brought out hot tea and provided them with hairdryers and heaters to help in every way possible.
This experience left a strong impression on the couple and they have since sent Korean kimchi and a thank you letter to the police station. However, they say that what they are looking forward to the most is returning to Taiwan at the end of the year to express their gratitude firsthand.
The police officers have responded to the video, and say they were all very touched by the couple's words.
It seems cyclists looking to explore Taiwan can expect the warmest treatment even in the coldest mountains.
