A delegation from Taiwan is participating in the 2023 Viva Technology (Viva Tech) exhibition, an annual technology conference held in Paris. The delegation is led by Economic Minister Wang Mei-hua (王美花) and will participate in a number of exchanged activities in France from June 12 to 19.
The economic ministry issued a press release on Tuesday, saying that Wang will not only participate in the largest technology event in Europe, but also unveil the Taiwan Pavilion at the exhibition. It added that the delegation will also hold an exchange meeting on offshore wind power development and investment, hoping to stabilize the development of renewable energy in Taiwan and France. The ministry said that the series of bilateral exchange activities will deepen the close economic, trade, and industrial partnership between the two countries and will strengthen Taiwan's important position in the global supply chain.
The economic ministry also said that Wang’s trip will explain that security in the Taiwan Strait is a matter of global security and international prosperity to the French community. The Taiwanese government will continue to cooperate with like-minded partners to maintain peace and stability in the region and welcome French businesses to invest in Taiwan.
Taiwan is the 4th largest trading partner of the European Union. Last year’s total bilateral trade exceeded US$5.8 billion, a 14.63% increase over the same period in 2021.
