Taiwan’s special education laws have been amended to increase budget and protect student rights. That’s according to President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) at the 30th National Ten Outstanding Mothers of Love Award on Monday.
In her speech, President Tsai said that she admires the toughness and courage mothers show when facing difficulties. She added that the government has been making efforts to promote care for the physically and mentally impaired people. These include more than nine hundred community-based care service points as well as programs that increase the salaries of staff and enhance the quality of services.
The president stressed that the government's goal is to take better care of the physically and mentally challenged and reduce the burden on their caregivers. She said that the government will continue to work hard and hopes that the public will support people with disabilities to overcome obstacles.
