Taiwan People's Party Chairman Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) has registered for the 2024 presidential election. Ko registered on Monday and is expected to announce his official nomination on the 17th.
In response, KMT Chairman Eric Chu (朱立倫) has called for unity and asked if cooperation between the two parties in the presidential election is possible. Ko answered that cooperation is only possible if it is based on compatible political concepts and values.
The media also asked Ko for comments on DPP presidential candidate Vice President Lai Ching-te (賴清德), and potential KMT candidates New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-yi (侯友宜) and Foxconn founder Terry Gou (郭台銘). Ko says it’s more important to focus on who can solve the problem of labor shortage and labor insurance bankruptcy in Taiwan.
