More than 12,000 visitors from Japan, the United States, South Korea, and other countries are expected to enter Taiwan on Thursday. It will be the first day that Taiwan scraps quarantine for incoming travelers. Thursday will also see Taiwan allow travelers from all countries to enter the country with valid visas, ending nearly three years of border controls.
According to the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, a tour group from Thailand will be the first to arrive at Taoyuan International Airport for a four-day excursion. An estimated 3,000 more people traveling with group tours are expected to arrive in Taiwan in its first month of reopening.
Taiwan’s transportation sector has also introduced incentives to welcome foreign travelers. From October 12 until November 30, Taiwan High Speed Rail is offering a 30 % discount on certain tickets for foreign travelers.
