The second annual Taiwan Climate Action Expo is promoting discussions about how to reach the country's target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The expo kicked off in Taipei on Friday and is the first climate action exhibition in Asia.
Several organizations including the International Climate Development Institute (ICDI) and the American Institute in Taiwan are hosting the exhibition. Many other institutes and industries have set up booths at the expo to showcase their environmentally friendly initiatives.
The expo features a three day forum that promotes deeper discussions on solutions to climate change. The exhibition is also open to young people and aims to spread the message that working to protect the environment can also have a positive economic impact.
ICDI head Chiu Chi-jung says the expo provides a platform for open discussion and learning about climate change. He adds that finding eco-friendly solutions is not just about dealing with a crisis, because new initiatives can also present lucrative business opportunities.
