A Taiwanese delegation has arrived in Washington to meet with American lawmakers and discuss Taiwan's national defense. Opposition lawmaker Chen I-hsin says the delegation will attend meetings with various US government departments over the next three days.
The bipartisan delegation is made up of seven lawmakers. The group's members are part of the legislature's USA Caucus, which supports closer ties with the United States.
Chen says Taiwan's representative office in the US and the United States' office in Taiwan helped organize the delegation's visit. He adds that the US has sent many delegations to Taiwan recently, and this visit aims to keep strengthening relations between the two countries.
Chen says the delegation will attend meetings with Biden administration officials, and confer with lawmakers and the US Defense Department. The delegation plans to return to Taiwan on September 17.
