President Tsai Ing-wen sends condolences to UK for passing of Queen Elizabeth II

President Tsai Ing-wen expressed her condolences to the United Kingdom for the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II. The queen died peacefully on Thursday at the age of 96 in her Scottish estate, where she was spending most of the summer. 

Queen Elizabeth led England for 70 years and held a special place in the hearts and minds of the people of the United Kingdom. She was the world’s longest reigning monarch.

President Tsai sent a message on her Twitter account in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II: “ I extend my deepest condolences to the Royal Family, the United Kingdom & the Commonwealth on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Taiwan remembers & celebrates her life of leadership & service, which set an example for people around the world.”

 

Presidential Office Spokesperson Xavier Chang said that the president sends sincere condolences to the people and government of the United Kingdom and to HM King Charles III and his family.  Chang said that the Queen’s passing was a loss to the UK and to the world and hopes that she may rest in peace.
