3 Taiwanese shot dead in Cambodia
The Taiwanese government is working with Cambodian law enforcement officials in Phnom Penh.

Three Taiwanese men have been shot dead in an apartment in Cambodia. Local police are working to determine whether the killings are connected with recent cases of labor trafficking in the country. They haven’t made any arrests.

According to the Cambodian media, the men were shot around 7 p.m. in an apartment complex in Phnom Penh. Police have identified them only with first or familiar names — Xiao Lin, A-wei and A-hong. All three victims were in their 30s. Police also found a gun, more than 40 rounds of ammunition and nearly 50 grams of ketamine in the apartment.

Taiwanese netizens claim to have identified the victims as residents of Tainan.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Joanne Ou says the Taiwanese government is working with police in Cambodia to help solve the crimes and provide support to the families. She is warning Taiwanese in the country that the level of gun violence in Cambodia has been rising. She is also advising Taiwanese people visiting Cambodia to follow the government’s latest travel advice.
