Taiwan is aiming to become a worldwide leader in intelligent manufacturing. That came from President Tsai Ing-wen on Wednesday when she spoke at the opening of this year’s Intelligent Asia exhibition in Taipei. Intelligent manufacturing is the integration of AI, smart technology, and data analysis to increase productivity.
Tsai says Taiwan’s machinery manufacturing industry was a pillar of the country’s economy during the COVID-19 pandemic. The importance placed on the industry drove innovation and talent cultivation in the realm of intelligent manufacturing. Tsai points out that as a result, in 2022 Taiwan climbed to seventh place in the Swiss IMD Business School’s Global Competitiveness Report.
Tsai adds as the pandemic subsides, Taiwan will continue to focus on supply chain restructuring and digital transformation, which will rely on intelligent manufacturing technologies. She says that the government will continue to support business’ integration of smart technology.
The president also previewed her plans to boost Taiwan’s status as a hub for smart technology in the region. She says Taiwan will use its innovative prowess to help foster smart technologies in the Asia-Pacific and Indo-Pacific regions. She asks manufacturers for their help in achieving that goal.
