Taiwan launches platform to promote Taiwanese products overseas
The launch of "Taiwan Food Go Global" to promote Taiwanese food worldwide

The economics ministry is keen for the world to develop a taste for Taiwanese food, and it has launched a new initiative to do it. The “Taiwan Food Go Global” scheme is designed to create innovative opportunities for Taiwanese food businesses to grow in 13 markets.

Trade official Simon Wang says NT$200 million (US$6.7 million) have been allocated to shining the spotlight on Taiwanese food in Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. In total, 2000 companies are expected to participate and earn more than US$60 million worth of business.

The platform will also include promotional events and marketing strategies to encourage people to discover how dynamic Taiwanese food can be. The new program has been created in the wake of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s recent visit. That visit led to China imposing numerous import restrictions on Taiwanese food products.
