Police rescue 9 Taiwanese job scam victims in Cambodia
Law enforcement agents are working to ensure the airport doesn't become a transit point for traffickers

Nine Taiwanese nationals who were allegedly duped by lucrative overseas job offers have been rescued in Cambodia. Taiwan’s National Police Agency says the victims arrived safely back at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on Sunday.

The rescue operation began when Thailand informed Taiwan that 12 Taiwanese citizens had left Thailand for Cambodia. Local authorities suspected they were victims of labor trafficking.

Taiwan’s Criminal Investigations Bureau worked with Taiwan’s representative office in Thailand and the Thai government to bring nine of the people to safety. The remaining three people have been kept in Thailand for questioning.

Airport police and immigration authorities in Taiwan are mobilizing to prevent people from becoming victims of human trafficking. They’re urging the public to be vigilant and avoid falling prey to fraud.
