Poll: public dissatisfied with treatment of trade in services agreement
Student protests against trade in services agreement

Over half of the public is dissatisfied with how both the ruling and opposition parties are dealing with the cross-strait trade in services agreement. The agreement, signed between Taiwan and China last June, has been at a standstill in the legislature. Students have occupied the legislature in protest of the agreement.

The think tank Taiwan Brain Trust’s recent survey found that 78% were not happy with how the ruling Kuomintang is dealing with the cross-strait agreement. Only 11% were satisfied. Meanwhile 30% were satisfied while 53% were not satisfied with the way the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has dealt with the agreement.

The ruling party has tried to pass the agreement in the legislature while the opposition has repeatedly boycotted, preventing the agreement from making the agenda.
