The MMinistry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said on Thursday that a China-Latin America forum will not affect relations between Taiwan and its allies in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Anna Kao said that the multilateral forum between China and members of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States will mainly focus on trade issues. She said that there will not be any political dialogue at the forum. Kao said Taiwan and its allies in Latin America and the Caribbean enjoy frequent exchanges and continued close ties.
The forum began in Beijing on Thursday. China’s foreign ministry says that there are 20 foreign ministers in attendance. A number of officials in the fields of trade, tourism and technology are also attending.
