Disney animation's “Toy Story” was almost set in Taiwan. That’s according to a USA Today report on Monday.
Former Disney visual development artist Jim Martin released his concept art of the original plot for Toy Story 3 earlier this month. The original storyline saw the toys launching a rescue mission for Buzz Lightyear, who had been shipped off to his manufacturing company in Taiwan to fix a malfunction.
The sketches released online include scenes of the toys flying over Taipei 101 and roaming some streets filled with billboards with Chinese characters. One picture also features a garbage truck with a Taiwanese license plate.
According to USA Today, this original story was developed in 2004, back in the days when Disney and Pixar were feuding over the rights to the Toy Story characters. But producers decided not to go with this plot because it lacked the pathos of the final version.
