The US Department of Commerce has announced that Taiwanese steel nail makers did not violate any anti-dumping rules in the US.
The department made the announcement in a statement posted on the website of its International Trade Administration on Thursday. It said the Taiwanese companies investigated did not sell their products in the US market at unfairly low prices.
In response, Taiwan’s economics ministry said it was delighted by the US decision. The ministry said the Taiwanese government and the local steel nail industry had worked closely together to respond to the anti-dumping accusations.
The US government launched an investigation in May after a US-based company filed a complaint. Taiwan’s economics ministry said the government provided subsidies in legal expenses to the Taiwanese companies under investigation, and Taiwan’s representative office in the US also provided assistance.
The US Department of Commerce is scheduled to issue a final ruling on the anti-dumping investigations by May 8, 2015.
