Shares in Taiwan ended lower Monday as investors remained cautious amid international and domestic uncertainties.
The U.S. Federal Reserve and Taiwan's central bank are both scheduled to hold policymaking meetings later this week. The legislative review a bill Wednesday to raise the threshold for the imposition of a stock capital gains tax that targets major market players.
The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange closed down 41.7 points, or 0.46 percent, at 8,985.63.
