A budget airline from Vietnam called VietJet Air has launched its maiden flight to Taipei, and the carrier says the new route has received warm welcome.
The first VietJet flight to Taipei, which was fully booked, took off from Ho Chi Minh City Friday afternoon and arrived in Taipei in the evening, carrying a total of 180 passengers.
Before the first flight took off in Vietnam, VietJet Executive President Luu Duc Khanh said that he believes the new service will make it more convenient for the 400,000 Vietnamese living in Taiwan and many Taiwanese investors operating in Vietnam to travel between the two countries.
In response, Taiwan’s representative to Vietnam, Huang Chih-peng, said that Taipei will introduce measures to simplify the visa application process for Vietnamese visitors.
