The foreign ministry has announced that Taiwan will donate 350 temporary housing units to refugees in Iraq.
The ministry said Tuesday that it’s working with the United States to send the temporary housing units to northern Iraq for refugees to use as shelter during the winter.
With a price tag of US$1.15 million, it is the largest donation that Taiwan has provided to refugees in Iraq who have been displaced by the Islamic State militant group since last year.
The ministry said that in recent years, Taiwan has donated more than US$8.24 million in relief to refugees in the Middle East.
