Award-winning Taiwanese cinematographer and director Chi Po-lin will be making a second documentary on Taiwan. That’s following his documentary “Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above”, which was filmed with aerial cinematography. The film won Best Documentary at the Golden Horse Awards – Taiwan’s version of the Oscar’s -- in 2013.
Chi said his second film, which will begin shooting in January, will continue to depict Taiwan’s environment. It will still offer aerial views of the island’s mountains and forests but will also include underwater cinematography. He said the film will take two years to make and will cover an area that’s more expansive than what he covered in his first documentary.
Chi’s first film has been lauded for highlighting the impact that humans have had on the island of Taiwan. It’s set to premiere soon in the eastern United States.
