The National Geographic Traveler magazine has listed Taiwan as one of the top 20 destinations for travelers, urging them to pack their bags and visit for the New Year holiday.
In addition to Taiwan, Corsica, the City of Oklahoma in the United States, and Tunis of Tunisia are among the top 20 destinations on the list.
In its December edition, the magazine said that unlike China, which has marginalized its minority ethnic groups, Taiwan has prided itself on tits indigenous cultures by reintroducing tribal languages to schools and developing a thriving aboriginal society.
The National Geographic Traveler said that Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, has been named the World Design Capital for 2016. It also said some new buildings are scheduled to open in 2015, including a performing arts center designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas’s firm.
The magazine said more importantly, foreign visitors cannot afford to ignore Taiwan’s reputation as a food paradise. It also said the best way to travel in Taiwan is to tour by train.
