Shares in Taiwan closed lower Tuesday. That was the second day the market was down after the ruling Kuomintang had a huge loss in the local elections over the weekend.
The bellwether electronics sector also was affected by a plunge of the tech-heavy NASDAQ index in the U.S. market overnight.
The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange closed down 82.92 points, or 0.9 percent, at 9,034.79.
