The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) is predicting that the first cold front of the winter will hit Taiwan on the first day of December. Meteorologists say the cold front will pass the island traveling from north to south, bringing not just cold temperatures but also rain.
Parts of northern Taiwan, including the northeastern county of Yilan, can expect occasional heavy rain lasting through the end of the week.
We’re looking at a drop of about ten degrees Celsius, or nearly 20 degrees Fahrenheit in the high temperatures for this coming week. The recent warm temperatures in which we’ve seen highs of up to 29 degrees Celsius (85 degrees F), could drop down to highs of 18 or 19 C (in the mid-to-upper 60s F). As for lows, the Central Weather Bureau is predicting that the mercury could drop to as low as 12 C in Taipei (that’s low-to-mid 50s F).
If you are snow lover, you might be interested to know that there is a chance of snow this coming week in the mountains of Taiwan. Forecasters say that the cold, wet weather could offer the right conditions for a dusting of snow.
Meanwhile, meteorologists are warning of the possibility of strong winds along the coast and on Taiwan’s outlying islands.
