President Ma confers top honor on President of Marshall Islands
Here's to us, friends

President Ma Ying-jeou has conferred Taiwan’s highest civilian honor, The Order of Brilliant Jade on visiting Marshallese President Christopher J. Loeak. President Ma presented Loeak with the award on Thursday.

Loeak and his wife arrived in Taiwan Tuesday and will visit the country until Saturday. It is Loeak’s fourth visit to Taiwan since he took office in 2012. Ma awarded Loeak with the Order of Brilliant Jade both in recognition of his contributions to Taiwan-Marshall Islands and in gratitude for his support for Taiwan during this year’s UN General Assembly debates.

During the meeting Loeak also presented Ma with the Marshall Islands’ highest honor.

President Ma said he hopes that exchanges between Taiwan and the Marshall Islands will continue in the years to come.

Meanwhile, Loeak thanked Taiwan for its aid and for cooperation in fields such as medicine, technology education, and agriculture. He said that he hopes Taiwanese support will help the Marshall Islands to develop. He also said that the Marshall Islands will continue to be a voice of support for Taiwan in the international community.
