Taiwan shares close up 0.47%

Shares in Taiwan closed higher Thursday as investors were encouraged by a new record high on Wall Street overnight.

The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange closed up 42.92 points, or 0.47 percent, at 9,165.31.
