The ruling Kuomintang (KMT) is planning to hold a televised campaign rally with overseas supporters of the party on Sunday. The event’s goal is to get party supporters living abroad to return to Taiwan and vote in the upcoming election on November 29.
President Ma Ying-jeou and the KMT mayoral candidates for Taiwan’s six municipalities will be connecting with KMT’s US Southwest Branch and viewers in nine major North American cities via television.
The US Southwest Branch said that the November election is of vital importance to the future of the party and the 2016 presidential elections.
The videoconference will be televised simultaneously in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington DC, Houston, New York, Miami, Vancouver and Toronto. President Ma is set to host the event.
