Yo-Yo Ma arrives in Taiwan for two concerts
Yo-Yo Ma

Renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma and his Silk Road Ensemble have arrived in Taiwan for two concerts in Taipei and the southern city of Kaohsiung.

The two concerts are part of the ensemble’s 15th-anniversary season. The performances will feature a repertoire that includes “Silk Road Suite” and Christopher Adler’s “Music for a Royal Palace.” Audiences will also hear contemporary arrangements of traditional tunes, percussion pieces, and solo performances by musicians such as pipa master Wu Man.

Ma started the Silk Road Project, a non-profit educational organization, in 1998 to promote innovation and learning through the arts. The Silk Road Ensemble was established in 2000 with the participation of internationally renowned performers and composers from more than 20 countries. This cross-cultural ensemble includes violin, cello, pipa, sheng and many other sounds from around the world.
