Thirteen Taiwanese food vendors will participate in the 2014 Beijing Taiwan Trade Fair next week. Local Taiwanese dishes including beef noodles, pineapple cake, and bubble tea will be showcased in the annual cross-strait trade show.
Taipei City Office of Commerce Director Huang Yi-yu said on Wednesday that all the food manufacturers participating in the fair have gone through an extensive vetting procedure to make sure all the food products contain no tainted oil.
“Delicious food is one of Taipei’s main attractions," said Huang. "So we cannot limit ourselves because of the recent food safety scandals. In order to rebuild consumer confidence, we have been helping food manufacturers to reinforce their management measures. We have to pick ourselves up where we fall.”
Taiwanese food manufacturers will be able to showcase their products in front of buyers in China and hopefully raise their brand awareness in the Chinese market.
