National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) launched a new global center for Chinese language literature on Thursday.
The center aims to promote creativity and improve the quality of research in the field of Chinese literature. It also hopes to train a new generation of top-quality Chinese language writers.
The center is inviting a number of heavyweights from the world of Chinese language literature, including Nobel Prize laureate Gao Xingjian, to host a series of literary activities. A number of poets and writers will also come to the center in April to hold discussions on the creative process.
The center at NTNU also hopes to build cooperation with writing centers at other universities. It has signed a memorandum of understanding with Beijing Normal University’s international writing center. It will also begin holding talks on opening classes and exchanging faculty with Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University in May.
