Taiwan’s Chi-chi Line builds sisterhood ties with Japanese rail line
"Sister" line

Taiwan’s Chi-chi railway line has built sisterhood ties with Japan’s Isumi Line.

This has been the forth such pairing since the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) began working in partnership with Japan’s railway systems in 2012.

At a signing ceremony on Monday, TRA Director-General Chou Yung-hui said the two lines are quite similar in length, operations, and both offer beautiful scenic views.

Chou said the sisterhood ties allow passengers holding used tickets for one of the railway lines to take a ride on its sister line.

The Isumi Line is located in Japan’s Chiba Prefecture, which is the location of the Tokyo Disneyland, and Narita Airport, which serves the capital city. The rail line spans 26.8 kilometers and has a total of 14 stations. Chou said that each station is unique and passengers are able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of fields covered in yellow rapeseed flowers.

Chou said Taiwan’s Chi-chi Line, which spans 29.7 kilometers, also boasts beautiful views.
