A rapid transit system connecting Taiwan’s main airport to the capital city of Taipei will become operational by the end of 2015.
Transportation minister Yeh Kuang-shih made the comments on Saturday when briefing President Ma Ying-jeou, who inspected the Taipei terminal of the Taoyuan International Airport metro.
The 53-kilometer line has been under construction since 2006 and is now undergoing a series of tests after some delays due to disputes among various contractors.
Once completed, the line can bring passengers arriving at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to downtown Taipei in 35 minutes.
