Taiwan has placed eighth on the HSBC Expat Explorer Report, a ranking of the best places to be an expat.
Switzerland topped the list, followed closely by Singapore and Mainland China. The results come from a survey of 9,300 professionals in different fields working outside their home countries. Respondents were asked about their quality of life, including their family life, salaries, and expenses.
Expats in Taiwan praised the country’s hospitality, medical system, and lively culture. Though some respondents expressed discomfort with certain aspects of workplace culture, three quarters said they felt welcomed in the workplace.
