The premiere of Taiwanese movie Design 7 Love has been cancelled in Beijing due to a scene where the main actor is in his underwear.
Design 7 Love was nominated for Best New Actor and Best Visual Effects at this year’s Golden Horse Awards. The film depicts seven persons with seven loves stories.
The film was scheduled to be one of the 6 Taiwanese movies played at the 2014 Taiwan Film Promotion. Beijing had asked that the scene with the actor in his underwear be cut, but director Chen Hong refused to change the movie so a trailer will be played instead.
The actor Bai Zi Xuan said that he respects each country’s boundaries and he hopes that people will go to see his movie.
Design 7 Love will premiere in Taiwan on December 19.
