Nathanel Amar, a French researcher who for some years worked in Taiwan for CEFC (French Centre for Research on Contemporary China) here, returned from France for the launching of a book he co-authored with a band of researchers, titled "Quand la Chine Parle"(When the Chinese speaks), an awesome collection and dissertations on terms created and popularized by the people on the commoners front, in daily usage and on the Internet. Interpretations and re-appropriations memes a tug-of-war of ‘word-fare’. The French loves the Chinese, it has been a reckoning for an ancient period of time. It’s fortunate that I got Nathanel pitching in despite his short return to Taipei City. And the interesting renditions of maneuvers of slangs that matters. This is the first of a two episodes sharing.
